Understanding Thermal Performance
Read thermal evidence in context by matching the product, installed thickness and test conditions to the proposed roof.
Identify what was measured
Product and complete system resistance describe different things. A bulk-insulation result relates to a stated material and specimen. A reflective system result may include particular air gaps and temperatures.
Check product grade, thickness and conditions before comparing figures. A number without context can misrepresent the proposed construction.
Maintain the intended installation
Bulk insulation should retain its specified thickness and consistent coverage. Reflective foil needs the air spaces required by its documentation and roof design. Compression, gaps or a changed arrangement can affect the relationship between the evidence and installation.
Use evidence for the actual project
Provide thermal target, roof build-up and location with an enquiry. Distinguish the required total performance from the component being purchased. Use each product variant’s documents and limitations rather than applying a family-level figure to every grade.
